start a garage punk radio station in texas (whatever texas city youre in)
My name is Todd Urick from the nonprofit Common Frequency, a nonprofit devoted to grassroots radio. Im also a big 60s psyche fan/ expunk/showhouse/ex manager for indie/punk station KDVS Davis CA/dude from Northern California... I wanted to relay you guys some information.
Theres a FCC filing window coming up for people to apply for their own FM licensed radio stations...one time only. I'm trying to reach out across the country to underground/DIY/punk folks trying to get them to apply for these FREE channels to start awesome DIY stations. The application is FREE. The FM license is FREE. Someone just has to apply. There are open channels all over texas--I dont know where you guys are, probably austin? After the filing window thats it! No more channels.
Can you think of anyone two forward to that might take an interest in making such an awesome station happen for psyche rock/60 garage? Forward to people out there to the scene if you cant. The filing window is Oct 15. More info: www.commonfrequency.org, or email me Todd firstname.lastname@example.org.
These stations are within grasp to build because they're 100 watts and cheap to build. 100 watts goes between 3 to 10 mile radius. If we dont apply for them the religious right will get all of them.

I've had a second print poster for a few years now. I just bought three postcards. I'm going to frame the poster and three postcards together. The poster will be on top and the postcards lined up along the bottom. It will have purple matting and an orange frame.
I've already done something similar with this poster and three cards: http://www.sixtiesposters.com/bg34.htm
It's a first print poster and three cards. I picked up the poster for cheep on eBay and bought three cards. It has quickly turned into a cornerstone piece of my collection.

I've had a first printing of this poster for almost ten years. Over the years I have mailed it around to my friends the bandmembers. I obtained the signatures of: Danny Thomas - Drums John Ike Walton - Drums Ronnie Leatherman - Bass
On 10/31/08 I attended a Roky Erickson concert in LA and obtained Roky's signature on this poster. Go here to read an account of that concert: http://texaspsych.blogspot.com/search/label/Roky%20Erickson%20and%20t...
Scroll down to the Sunday, November 2, 2008 - Roky Erickson and the Black Angels- El Ray Theater, Los Angeles 10-31-08
Last week, I mailed the poster to my friend, Clementine Hall. I am obtaining her signature and Tommy Hall's. If I am lucky, Powell St. John will sign it too.
When I get this back this will go directly to Esprit Decor for custom framing. I might frame it with three handbills along the bottom.
BTW, I have a similar poster, 3rd printing, that already has all of the signatures described above on it. This one in the works is a rare 1st printing.
